we started the day evacuating ourselves from a ... working hotel. the kids had loved the room because there were glow in the dark stars on the ceiling and a black light in the room (glowing white towels, anyone), but last night was not so inspiring for us adults.
we found "olde town inn" on marigny st, a few blocks from the french quarter (instead of 6 miles), for essentially the same price, but cute and quaint and fun, and no obvious illegal business happening here. yay!

then we saw the french quarter, cemetery number 1, and the voodoo museum before noon. oops. usually i schedule too much.

so we saw cafe du monde, the mississippi here, and bought the best $3 souvenirs ever.

then we walked around the french market, and discovered live music and a kid dancing, soooo... ya know.... ;)

and got amazing texmex cajun lunch.

then we saw the louis armstrong park before going on a great historical ghost tour. :)

y'all sooo gotta come check it out!!! (and stay at olde town, NOT red carpet. :) )
happy day, and looking forward to doing some sitting tomorrow on our way eastward.
